At the University of Waterloo, learning doesn't just occur in lecture halls, libraries, and labs. Students learn in common spaces, recreational facilities, and residential areas as well. Integration of learning environments can provide students with a more complete learning experience. One way in which learning environments can be integrated is by holding programs in residence.
Why Hold an Event in Residence?
The UW residences house about 5100 students ranging from first-year undergraduates to graduate students. Students are likely to attend programs held in residence because they occur in their familiar “home” environment and in a convenient location. Running programs in residence is also convenient for the program presenters. There is a wide variety of locations and room types available, equipment and furniture are provided, and staff are available to set up the room for your specific needs.
Residence facilities are available to faculties and administration to run programs for students living in residence only. Some discretion will be applied when determining whether residence facilities can be used for your program.
Locations for Programs
There are a variety of program spaces availble in the UW residences. These range from large halls with a capacity of 300 people to smaller, more intmate settings with capacities ranging from 30-60 people.
